Valerie Mae Whitehead, age 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away far too soon on May 18, 2025. Born on December 17, 1997, Valerie was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her—radiating compassion, joy, and a magnetic energy that made people feel instantly at ease.
From an early age, Valerie’s sweet and caring nature stood out. She had a rare gift for making others feel seen, heard, and deeply valued. Whether with a warm smile, a thoughtful word, or an encouraging presence, Valerie brought kindness into every room she entered. She carried herself with grace and a quiet strength, always putting others before herself, and always with an open heart.
Valerie graduated from Tuttle High School with pride and a fierce determination to make her mark on the world. She quickly found her calling in the banking industry, where her professionalism, intelligence, and natural leadership were recognized early. What began as a position as a bank teller blossomed into a career in management—a reflection of her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Valerie’s colleagues admired her not only for her skill and reliability but for her humility, sense of humor, and unwavering integrity.
Outside of work, Valerie embraced life with an adventurous and curious spirit. A true lover of nature and exploration, she found joy in off-road rides on side-by-sides (SXS), spontaneous trips, and long scenic drives with her family. She was an avid reader and an active member of her book club, where she found community and delight in meaningful stories and good conversation. Valerie had a passion for trying new restaurants, discovering hidden gems, and always making room for laughter and good food with the people she loved.
Her greatest joy in life was her beloved son, Jackson. As a mother, Valerie was devoted, nurturing, and endlessly proud. Every adventure, every smile, every bedtime story was shared with Jackson at the center of her world. Together with her husband, Derek Cude, Valerie built a life filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories—ones that will be treasured forever by all who were blessed to be part of them.
Valerie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Tina and Joe Whitehead, whose values of love, strength, and resilience she carried forward in her own life. She is survived by her cherished son, Jackson Cude, and her devoted husband, Derek Cude. She also leaves behind extended family and countless friends who will remember her as a woman of remarkable heart and soul.
Though her time here was far too short, Valerie's impact is immeasurable. She lived fully, loved deeply, and left a legacy of warmth, kindness, and fearless adventure. Her spirit will continue to shine in every story shared, every trail explored, and every moment spent wrapped in the love of family.
Valerie will be missed beyond words but remembered forever with love.
