Shirley Darlene Henderson, age 74, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at her home in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Shirley was born February 27, 1949 in Hoisington, Kansas a daughter of Virgil and Vivian Gaitlin. She was raised in town along with older siblings Betty and James Lee and her younger brother Stevie. She was raised in Waurika, OK where she attending school. She moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where she graduated high school with the class of 1967. It was during the 8th grade living in Waurika that she met the love of her life "Johnny Bill" who sat behind her in class. The two became high school sweethearts and their love story began. Following Johnny's honorable discharge from the military, they held a double wedding alongside their friends Gail and Larry Conran on January 24, 1968 in California. Shirley and John shared a wonderful life together for nearly 50 years.
Shirley gained Tammy Michelle as a bonus daughter when she married Johnny. The couple were then blessed with three more daughters Vanessa Dawn; Andrea Rachelle, and Jessica Mache'. Shirley was they type of Mom others dream of having. She grew a garden, was a wonderful housekeeper, and the girls could always count on her homemade after school snacks. One of her favorite roles was being Mimi to Zachary, Brennan, Calen, Jaidyn, and Ayden. She was at all of her grandkids events from dance to sports and everything in between. She was blessed with one great grandchild Norah Davis
She loved traveling with Johnny and taking adventures on the motorcycle. She was a nurturer to the core, always had on her makeup, and jewelry. Shirley was a woman who loved big and was dearly loved in return by those who were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her bonus daughter Michelle Gray and fiance' Billy Gilmore; daughter Vannessa Walker and husband Jeff; daughter Andrea Henderson; daughter Jessica Henderson; grandchildren Zachary Davis, Brennan Walker, Calen Walker, Jaidyn Walker, and Ayden Gray; great granddaughter Norah Davis; and sister Betty Smith
She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years John; brothers James Lee Gaitlin and Stevie Gaitlin.
