Ruby Jo (Smith) Jones-Wesley, 78, passed away on November 3, 2022, in Oklahoma City.
Ruby was born on April 9, 1944 in Oklahoma City, OK, to Winford and L.B. Smith. She was raised in Oklahoma City one of 10 children that included six brothers J.B., Orvel, Carl, Billy, Jesse, and Kenneth as well as three sisters Lucille, Mary Nell and Erma Lee. Ruby attended Southeast High School while working as an elevator operator at the State Capitol building.
She married Hillrey Jones October 31, 1962 in Oklahoma City. While the union did not stand the test of time, the two were blessed with four children Gala Ranay, Marcella Ruth, Timothy Willis and Carolyn Sue. She was a homemaker at heart and a wonderful cook known especially for her chicken and dumplings and chocolate gravy. She had a sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Ruby was best known for her home cooked holiday meals that included cornbread and stuffing that only she could make. She loved to shop and enjoyed going to the casino with her family. Once her children were adults, they would take annual family trips to Crested Butte, CO and Las Vegas NV. Traveling was truly one of Ruby's main passions.
She married Richard Wesley later in life and the two found the companion each other was looking for. They owned and operated Central Bar in Oklahoma City for over 15 years. They were known far and wide for the down home atmosphere they had created there. Following retirement, they hit the road in their motor home seeing places like Colorodo, Yellowstone Park where they were camp hosts, and really enjoyed their time in Port Aransus, TX.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Winford and L.B. Smith; brothers Orville Smith, J.B. Smith, Jesse Smith, Kenneth Smith and Billy Wayne Smith; sister Erma Lee Cardenas; daughter Marcie Jones; grandsons Jason Radford, Brandon Muse and Matthew Clark.
