Ronald Lee Thomas

Ronald Lee Thomas, age 93, of Del City, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023 in Tuttle, Oklahoma.

Ronnie was born September 16, 1929 in Red Oak, Oklahoma, a son of Sarah and Riley Thomas. He was raised on the family farm along with his eight siblings Ann, Lloyd, Roy, Tim, Doris, Phyllis, Dean, Kenneth Ray and his niece Barbara Ann who was like a sister to him. Ronnie began working as a young child logging lumber by mule drawn buckboard. He was raised around horses his entire life and developed a passion for them for his entire life. Throughout his life he was an bridge painter, automotive painter, car sales man, but his true love was being a horse trader.

He met Jimmie June Eason who was best friends with his sister Doris at Midwest City High School. It was love at first sight and the two married June 30, 1953 in Del City, OK. Over the years, they enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, and weekends at the horse races. Most of all, they loved being around their grandchildren. He was a devoted husband for 57 years and served as Jimmie June's caregiver until her passing in 2007.

Ronnie was known for being ornery with the grandkids who lovingly called him "Ronnie". He was an honest man and people could count on him to give his opinion. Ronnie spent a lot of his time fishing at Lake Stanley Draper where he made many friends and he was also an avid hunter.

Ronnie is survived by his son Butch Thomas and wife Colleen; granddaughter Kerry Graham and husband Brian and their children Taylor and wife Danielle, Trysten and wife Emili, and Emma ; grandson Trey Thomas and wife Sheli and their children Riley, Kash and Avery; granddaughter Makenzie Thomas and her children Zola and Lennox.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents Sarah and Riley Thomas; wife of 57 years Jimmie June; his eight siblings; and great grandson Riley Thomas.
