Nathan Henry "Speed" Stark III, age 78, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side Friday, February 2, 2024 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Nathan was born October 25, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a son of Nathan and Elnora Stark, Jr. He was raised in Oklahoma City alongside his brother Robert. Nathan attended Capitol Hill High School graduating with the class of 1963.
Nathan had a love for speed and fast cars. He was most proud of his brand new 1963 Ford Galaxy which he purchased with cash when he graduated high school. He went on to be involved in drag racing with his 1978 Vega and was happiest working with his hands. This skill lead to a lifelong career as an auto mechanic. He owned and operated the FAA Phillips 66 station alongside his father for 35 years.
In 1965, Nathan married Donna Langston. From that union was blessed with three children Mona Marie, Nathan Henry, and Cindy Lee. He provided his children with their moral compass and taught them to have a hard work ethic. His daughter Mona enjoyed going to car shows with Dad and appreciated that he was the reason she went to college. His daughter Cindy recalls their date nights eating Taco Mayo and playing cards, even though he never let her win. His son Nathan remembers working with his Dad and Grandpa at the gas station, dove hunting, and going to car auctions. He loved being "Papa Speed" to his grandchildren. He loved on them, played, and teased them often.
He met Sandy Williamson at the 40/8 club in Oklahoma City, where he found his Princess and she found her Prince Charming. They loved going out to eat and on Saturday nights they were back at the 40/8 dancing with their friends. He adored her and was a devoted caregiver until she passed in 2020.
