Obituary

Nancy Jo Easterling, 80, passed away on October 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. While her passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her family finds peace in knowing she is now home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Nancy was born on November 17, 1945, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Philip and Shirley Roccaforte. She attended Miami University in Ohio, where she earned a degree in education and played basketball.

Nancy had a lifelong love of sports and competition. She enjoyed tennis, pickleball, and bowling, and her competitive spirit was well known among her family and friends. She was also a devoted Oklahoma Sooners fan and loved cheering on her team.

Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed a variety of careers, including teaching physical education, working in property development, and later accounting. She brought intelligence, determination, and a strong work ethic to everything she did.

Nancy loved traveling, cruising, dancing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She especially treasured the friendships she made at the Senior Center, where she enjoyed laughter, games, and wonderful companionship.

Above all, Nancy loved her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who took great pride in her children and grandchildren. When once asked about her favorite memory, her answer was simple: the day each of her children were born. Nothing brought her greater happiness than the people she loved.

In 2023, Nancy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. Her faith became a beautiful and meaningful part of her life, bringing her peace and strength throughout her final years.

Nancy courageously battled pulmonary fibrosis, a progressive lung disease that gradually limited her ability to enjoy many of the activities she loved. Despite the challenges she faced, she remained remarkably positive, grateful, and full of love.

One of Nancy’s greatest gifts was her ability to find joy in even the most difficult circumstances. She rarely complained and continued to appreciate life’s simplest blessings. Her family will forever remember her beautiful smile, quick wit, competitive spirit, love of dancing, and the countless memories she created.

Nancy’s legacy is one of love, laughter, gratitude, faith, and choosing joy even when life was difficult.

Nancy is survived by her loving children and their spouses: Dean and Missy Thornton, Dawn and Terry Womack, and Amy and Dave Blake; and her beloved grandchildren, Devin Thornton, Darin Thornton, Bailey Easterling, Lily Fortunato, Sophie Fortunato, and Joseph Fortunato.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Philip and Shirley Roccaforte, and her brother, Phil Roccaforte.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Monday, November 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Council Road Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Honorary Pallbearers are Darin Thornton and Devin Thornton.

In Lieu of Flowers The family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Nancy Easterling.

Having lived courageously with pulmonary fibrosis, Nancy understood firsthand the challenges of this devastating disease. One of her greatest hopes was that researchers would someday discover a cure. Donations made in her memory will help support research and bring hope to others living with pulmonary fibrosis. Memorial donations may be made at www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org.
