Kira Lynnette Matthews

November 26, 1984 — May 6, 2024

Kira Lynette Matthews, age 39, of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Kira was born November 26, 1984 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marcy and Bill Schmult. With her Dad serving in the military, relocating was a norm in her early years. She lived in Ft. Worth, Texas and attended elementary school in New Mexico. She was raised alongside her younger brothers Kieran and Keyton. The family put down roots in Marcy's hometown Tuttle, Oklahoma where Kira entered 5th grade at Tuttle Schools.

Kira was gifted in the arts from a young age. She found her passion for dance while taking classes from Ms. Tammy at Stepping Out Dance Studio. Over the years, she gave award winning performances in jazz, pom, tap, and ballet. Kira also played piano, took voice lessons, and found her love for musical theater performing at the historic Tuttle Opera House. It was here that she was a crowd favorite while singing and dancing to "Don't Tell Mama" as a saloon girl in the musical Firecracker Follies. Kira decided to use this number as her talent in the Miss Tuttle pageant. Competing against 26 contestants, Kira was received the Overall Talent award and was named 2nd runner up. Continuing with her love for music, Kira played the flute in the Pride of Tuttle Marching Band where she served as Drum Major her senior year. Kira graduated Valedictorian with the Tuttle High School class of 2004.

Kira went on to earn her Associates Degree in Science and attended the Oklahoma Health Academy where she became certified as a dental assistant. She was fortunate to find a practice that was a perfect fit for her at Family Dental & Implant Clinic working under Dr. Drew Hendrix DDS. He was an employer that became like chosen family for Kira. She was someone Dr. Hendrix could count on and he provided her a the opportunity to develop new skills and flourish.

Kira married Timmy Matthews and from that union was blessed with two sons Declan Jerome and Owen Theodore. Being a mother was her greatest joy. She was an involved who was present for their activities and was intentional to establish their foundation of faith. Kira also loved her dog Issac, and cats Barry and Mavis.

Kira was raised attending St Joseph Catholic Church in Union City, Oklahoma where she was confirmed, sang in the choir, helped her mom with Sunday school, and her son's were baptized. While in Kingfisher, she attended Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she has continued to guide her children through the sacraments of faith.

Kira is survived by her sons Declan and Owen; their father Timmy Matthews; parents Marcy and Bill Schmult; brother Kieran Schmult; brother Keyton Schmult; along with her aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too many to count.

Kira is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Alicia and Williams Schumlt and maternal grandparents Janie and Ted Hodges.
