Mary “Joyce” Burright, 97, of Tuttle, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, joining her beloved husband, Vernon Ray Burright, in heaven. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Tuttle, with Rev. Marty officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Tribute Memorial Care SW, 5311 OK-37, Tuttle, OK.
Joyce was born with a spirit of grace and strength that carried her through a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. After graduating from Cleo Springs High School, she began her career as a telephone operator. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Vernon Ray Burright, and together they shared 53 wonderful years. Their journey included summers at the lake, road trips across the United States with their daughters, extended stays on the Gulf Coast of South Texas, and travels around the world. Wherever they went, they went together—hand in hand, heart to heart.
Joyce was a passionate sports fan, and everyone knew not to call during game time unless they were ready to cheer alongside her for the Oklahoma Sooners, OKC Thunder, or Dallas Cowboys. She was the kind of friend who showed up with a homemade casserole or dessert when someone was in need. Her humor was dry and clever, her eyes sparkled with mischief, and her wisdom was unmatched.
She embodied southern grace—always impeccably dressed in stylish clothing and adorned with beautiful jewelry, reflecting the elegance and kindness of her soul. Joyce was a true lady, through and through.
Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with her Savior and her beloved Vernon.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Estel M. and Gladys A. (Baker) Clancy; her brother, Trace Clancy; sisters Wilma (Clinton) Evans, Verna Mae (Douglas) Hawke, and Naomi (Lindy) Clough; and her daughter, Gail Ann Funderburk.
She is survived by her daughters Charlotte (Phillip) Vinson and Sheila Seacat; son-in-law Ron Funderburk; grandchildren Diane (DJ) Riley/McDermott, Quentin (Brandi) Vinson, Sheri Davie, Angela (Michael) Muncy, Brad (Laura) Altstatt, Evan (Theresa) Riley, Natalie (William) Esau, and Jeff (Katherine) Seacat; and 13 great-grandchildren who were blessed to know and love her.
