Ellen B. Schoettle

Ellen Basnight Schoettle, 81, went home to be with her Savior on June 27, 2025. Ellen was born July 21, 1943, in Edenton, NC to Dennis and Doris Basnight. She was married to Harry Schoettle on March 21, 1965, in Edenton, NC and shared 60 years of marriage together.

Ellen graduated from John A. Holmes High School in Edenton, NC in 1961 and attended East Carolina University where she earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1965. She was an elementary teacher at Sheep Harney Elementary School from 1965 – 1968 and then set her teaching career aside to raise a family. She started teaching again in Tuttle, OK and retired in 2003.

Ellen was a long-time member of Tuttle Baptist Church. Ellen loved teaching. She enjoyed going to church, spending time at the beach, reading, sewing, and quilting. She will be remembered for her calm and easy-going spirit, her Faith in The Lord, knowledge of the Bible, the numerous handsewn items she created, and her fighting personality.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Doris Basnight and her sister Linda Long.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Steven Schoettle; son Mike Schoettle and his wife Shona, daughter Kathy Schoettle; and grandchildren, Toby, Tyler, Katie, Lane and Ian. She also leaves behind several nieces, a nephew, a brother-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Services and arrangements for Mrs. Schoettle and her family have been entrusted to Tribute Memorial Care SW in Tuttle, OK.
